This walk initially follows the Mundaring Weir View Trail to the lookout, then continues briefly on the Bibbulmun Track, before heading eastward into historic Fred Jacoby Park (off Mundaring Weir Rd), and past a giant oak tree, to link into a small section of the Portagabra Trail. Pass rocky outcrops and through mixed jarrah and marri forest, with some wandoo, and abundant Xanthorea (balgas) and zamia palms. Recross the Park and then cross Mundaring Weir Rd to link onto the O’Connor Trail (The O’Connor trail is marked by steel poles with a green markers .) Signage along the trail highlights some of the interesting history of the building of the Goldfields Pipeline, including the No. 2 Pumping Station. The Trail passes through some nice sections of forest before meeting the Bibbulmun Track which soon leads back to the Discovery Centre.
This walk is quite challenging and there are some steep slopes and steps to negotiate.
This walk is repeated at 11.30 am (Walk #4A).
