This walk follows the Mundaring Weir View Trail to the lookout and then continues on the Bibbulmun Track, following the Goldfields Pipeline past the Mundaring Weir Hotel to reach the north end of the Weir wall. Cross the 200m long Weir wall, to be rewarded with great views east across the reservoir, and a dramatic view west down Helena River valley; then descend (optional) to the historic No. 1 Pumping Station below the weir wall before climbing a long flight of steps to return to the north end of the wall. A short side diversion can include a visit to the memorial to CY O’Connor, the engineer responsible for the Mundaring Weir, then return to the Discovery Centre.
The trail is suitable for adults and accompanied children (6 years and over). There are some steep slopes and steps to negotiate. (Walkers can opt not to descend from the Weir wall to avoid the long flight of steps.)
This walk is repeated at 10.45 am (Walk #5A) and 11.45 am (Walk # 5B).
